The College at Brockport invites applications and nominations for the Vice President for Administration and

St. Lawrence University, an independent liberal arts institution guided by tradition and focused on the future,
seeks nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for University Advancement.
About the College: Founded in 1835, The College at Brockport is a leading comprehensive college in New
York and is poised to become a nationally recognized comprehensive masters institution. Committed to
student success, the College focuses on educating the whole student by providing rigorous classroom
learning, faculty-student engagement in educationally purposeful activities outside of the classroom as well
as exceptional co-curricular programs and support services. The 464-acre campus has 66 buildings
occupying about one-quarter of the campus, with grassy fields and wooded land. Brockport, NY is a small
college town of 8,100 residents located on the historic Erie Canal. The campus is near downtown Rochester,
and ten miles from Lake Ontario. Brockport enrolls 7,297 undergraduates and 1,292 graduate students and
offers 50 undergraduate majors, 48 master’s degree programs, and teacher certification in 24 areas. The
operating revenues for the College are $153M.
Reporting directly to the President, the Vice President for Administration and Finance is charged with
oversight of financial management, campus facilities and a number of specialized administrative functions.
Responsibilities include direct supervision of Environmental Health and Safety, Facilities and Planning,
Finance and Management, Human Resources, Procurement and Payment Services, and Sponsored Programs
(Post-Award). The Vice President also interacts with the Brockport Auxiliary Services Corporation and the
Brockport Foundation. As one of four College Vice Presidents, the Vice President for Administration and
Finance collaborates with the other Vice Presidents and members of President’s Cabinet in order to promote
College success. Similar relationships are developed with SUNY System Administration and with the
SUNY Research Foundation.
The successful candidate will be a high energy, visionary leader with a track record of success as a senior
administrative officer. He/she will have superb interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated
ability to build and lead effective, diverse management teams; proven ability to work effectively in a shared
governance and collective bargaining environment; demonstrated skills in strategic and tactical budget and
financial planning and policy development, problem solving and risk management; and demonstrated
success in promoting diversity. The candidate must be a team builder who is highly motivated, a self-starter
and a dedicated professional who has demonstrable commitment to service, support of the academic mission
and continued advancement of the College.
Required qualifications include: an earned Master’s degree; significant experience in progressively
responsible administrative and/or financial management in higher education. The successful candidate will
also have a deep understanding of the culture of a campus and the ability to work positively and effectively
with the academic community, public officials, media representatives and the public. Salary and benefits are

Reporting directly to President William Fox, the Vice President provides strategic direction and leadership
for all of the development, alumni relations and advancement services functions and a staff of approximately

than 30,000 living alumni. In December 2010, the University completed its Momentum St. Lawrence
campaign raising $172.1 million.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (a master’s degree and/or CFRE certification
preferred) and 7-10 years proven leadership experience in a senior administrative capacity, especially in the
development and execution of comprehensive campaigns. Demonstrated success in fundraising and
knowledge of methods and technologies for grantsmanship, data bases, and prospect research is expected.
The new Vice President should possess deep knowledge of the philanthropic community; experience
working with major donors from trustees, corporations, foundations, alumni, parents and friends; proven
ability to develop and inspire a team of accomplished professionals in a collegial manner, including those
who may telecommute from regional offices; capacity for senior staff teamwork; and effective working
relationships with all elements in a university community. Candidates will exhibit a strong commitment to
independent, liberal arts higher education and an understanding of the academic enterprise. Also required
are the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and a willingness to travel frequently and to meet
with volunteers and donors on evenings and weekends. St. Lawrence encourages candidates with careers

Afghanistan recover from years of devas-
tating conflict. The university places major
emphasis on the enrollment and support of
women students and on meeting the needs
of country through high quality academic
and continuing education programs. The
position will be filled prior to the begin-
ning of the 2012-13 academic year. The
University In 2002 the Afghanistan Min-
ister of Higher Education proposed the
creation of the university, and the US gov-
ernment committed to assist it. The uni-
versity is chartered in Afghanistan. In
2006 the autonomous Board of Trustees,
composed of Afghan and American busi-
ness, civic, and academic leaders, opened
the university’s doors to its first degree-

The internationally credentialed faculty
and staff include Afghans, Americans, and
other nationalities, with the majority hold-
ing masters and doctoral degrees from US
institutions. USAID provides significant
support for the university, supplemented
by tuition, fee income, and philanthropic
donations. A five-year cooperative agree-
ment with USAID provides for $42 million
in direct support for AUAF. Rooted re-
spectfully in Afghan culture, AUAF oper-
ates with the academic standards of Amer-
ican higher education, and all instruction
is in English. The university offers un-
dergraduate degrees, based on a strong
foundation in the liberal arts, in Business
(BBA), I T (BS), and Political Science and
Public Administration (BA). It also offers
a unique certificate program in law in co-
operation with Stanford University School
of Law and has begun the country’s only
MBA program, which includes the Gold-
man Sachs 10,000 Women program fa-
cilitated with the Thunderbird School of

Office of Business Affairs and provides
leadership and vision to the management
of the university’s financial, administra-
tive, and business operations. Reporting
to the President, the CFAO serves as the
university’s chief operating officer for all
non-academic financial and administrative
functions and activities and works closely
with the Provost and with other members
of the senior administrative team. Quali-
fications Preferred qualifications include
an MBA, Ph.D., or other appropriate de-
gree in finance/ administration from a US
or English-language university; significant
senior leadership experience in finance
and administrative functions for a com-
plex organization; and the demonstrated
ability to work effectively with students,
faculty, staff, trustees, and local authori-

in team-building and collaboration are
necessary. A record of living and working
abroad, preferably in the region or other
developing countries, and significant ad-
