Faculty Position: Leadership
Development Program Director
The mission of the Yale School of Management is “to educate leaders
for business and society.” The School seeks a distinguished academic
or practitioner to direct its new required Leadership Development
Program (LDP) for full-time MBA students and to oversee its
ongoing development. The Director of the LDP will also assume a
full-time faculty position that is appropriate to the person’s profile
and experience, e.g., Professor of Practice, ladder track (tenure
track) faculty member. The appointment will be made as soon as
possible.
A special ad hoc committee of the school’s faculty completed in
December 2011 an evaluation of how best to integrate leadership
development into the school’s flagship MBA program. The new
LDP will leverage material taught throughout the School’s unique
first-year integrated curriculum and will encourage each member
of the MBA program to develop into a highly ethical leader who
can be effective at (i) the individual level, (ii) the team level, (iii) the
organizational level, and (iv) globally.
The innovative LDP program will feature personalized assessment
and development plans for students, a substantial peer coaching
component, and co-curricular activities involving alumni and
distinguished practitioners to ensure that leadership and ethical
issues are explored in relevant contexts, e.g., as they arise in
financial markets with investors, with customers, with suppliers,
with employees, and with government and regulatory bodies.
By engaging the vast resources of Yale University at large, the
LDP will produce future leaders who approach their leadership
responsibilities with unusual breadth and depth.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a distinguished career, elements of
which will include relevant research on leadership, leadership
development, and ethics; demonstrated excellence in teaching
and curriculum development in leadership and ethics; substantial
collaboration with a wide variety of internal and external constituents;
broad and deep knowledge of, and participation in, leadership
development programs in academic and/or business enterprises;
and an extensive network of contacts with leaders in diverse sectors
who can contribute to Yale SOM’s LDP.
