Assistant Professor of Biology and
Environmental Studies
The Pennsylvania State University, the Altoona College invites
applications for a joint tenure-track position starting Fall 2012 in Biology
and Environmental Studies. The applicant should have broad training in
biology with a specialization in Field Ecology. Teaching responsibilities
include lower-level courses in biology and environmental studies, upper-
level courses in ecology and field biology, and upper-level courses in the
candidate’s related specific areas of interest. Those with the ability to teach
lower-level courses in anatomy and/or physiology are especially encouraged
to apply. The faculty candidate is expected to contribute to our programs
in Biology and Environmental Studies, establish a successful research
program, and perform professional, university, and community service.
The position requires a Ph.D. in Biology or related field, and is a tenure-
track appointment at the level of assistant professor or a rank commensurate
with qualifications. Applicants should present a record of evidence and
potential effectiveness in teaching, research, and service. Candidates should
have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, research, student
recruitment and retention, and curricular development and assessment.
