SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA
The University of San Francisco (USF), a premier Jesuit, Catholic, urban University located in San
Francisco, CA, seeks applications and nominations for a Dean of the School of Management who will
take the School of Management to a new level of visibility, distinction, and excellence in the San
Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
USF is recognized nationally and internationally as a premier Jesuit, Catholic, urban University with
a global perspective. Established as San Francisco’s first institution of higher education in 1855, the

Management, Education, and Nursing and Health Professions. USF is located in an attractive
residential area of San Francisco, adjacent to Golden Gate Park, and offers undergraduate,
graduate, and professional students the knowledge and skills needed to succeed as persons and
professionals, and the values and sensitivity necessary to be “men and women for others.” The
University takes pride in educating leaders who will fashion a more humane and just world,
characterized by the statement “Change the World from Here.”
The University of San Francisco has offered programs in business and management since 1925. Today

tremendous opportunity. Under the leadership of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs,
Dr. Jennifer Turpin, USF is transitioning into a new era focused upon enhancing academic
excellence, community partnership, and service to students. The School of Management and the
University seek a leader to build on the SOM’s history and talents and position the SOM as a leader
in management education in the San Francisco community; create a more coherent organizational
structure and culture that values and practices excellence, transparency, and mutual respect;
capitalize on the promise of a new downtown campus and other branch campuses while
strengthening the main campus programs; deliver an outstanding student experience that translates

comprehensive campaign. Candidates must demonstrate excellent internal management skills,
outstanding communication and facilitation ability, have the capacity to establish a visible presence
for the School of Management to its many constituencies, and be committed to fundraising as a
central focus. Candidates should embrace the university’s inclusive vision, mission, and values,
which promote respect for all, ethical reflection, humanity, and the pursuit of justice.
