Spanish/Portugese: Visiting Assistant Pro-
fessor of Spanish and Portuguese. The De-
partment of Humanities at Michigan Tech-
nological University seeks to appoint a Vis-
iting Assistant Professor or Instructor of
Spanish and Portuguese for a one-year ap-
pointment beginning August 26, 2013. The
successful candidate will teach a combina-
tion of courses at the beginning, transition-
al, and intermediate level, including Com-
position and Conversation, and/or Specific
Literacies/Special Purpose courses. Antici-
pated course load will be 3-3 with participa-
tion in departmental colloquia. Candidates
should have a demonstrable record of teach-
ing excellence, and native or near-native flu-
ency. Preferred candidates should be ABD
or have a Ph.D. The Humanities Depart-
ment offers Minors and International Mi-
nors in French, German, and Spanish, and a
Minor in Diversity Studies. Our undergrad-
uate programs include Communication and
Culture Studies and Scientific and Techni-
cal Communication. The department’s pro-
grams provide faculty with unique opportu-
nities to teach and engage in research that
benefits from an intellectually rich, multidis-
